Sock Walk

The sock walk is a weekly excursion that takes place every Sunday during the cold winter months (October-March).  Before the Coalition heads out on the streets, as many materials as possible are gathered: winter hats, gloves, scarves, hand and feet warmers, disaster blankets, food items, and—of course—socks.  Experienced members of the Oasis Coalition guide these walks through areas of Boston where homeless individuals may seek refuge. Walks do not stop until all the items have been handed out.

Anyone joining us in the sock walk will meet at the Church on the Hill (address below) to gather materials and plan walking routes.  Walks spread widely across downtown Boston, regularly hitting areas such as State St. Station/Macy’s; inside and outside of South Station; through Chinatown; in and around the Boston Common/ Garden area; Newbury St./ Commonwealth Ave./ Lower Beacon St. areas; Copley Sq.; and around Back Bay Station.

Sunday nights, October through March, beginning at 5:45 PM

Meet at Church on the Hill, 140 Bowdoin St. Boston, MA
